Thursday, October 3, 2013, LHS’s women’s choir, Bel Canto, attended the Allied Arts Council’s second concert in their Downtown Noontime Concert series.
Students saw Lory Lacey and Ellen Bottorff perform a selection of classical music on flute, piano, and voice. Choir director, Mr. David Groth, was excited to have such world-class music within driving distance from Lafayette. Many of the students had never seen professional musicians of this caliber before.
Bel Canto was able to make it to First Presbyterian Church, in downtown St. Joseph, and back to Lafayette all during their third hour. Response to the concert was unanimously positive after the students returned to class.
The class immediately started planning their next field trip, unfortunately the rest of the concerts fall
during other class hours.
*Editor’s note: the YouTube video had problems transcoding. It’s not actually 8 minutes long. The first two minutes work great!
