Hot Books of 2014/2015

Nothing like sitting down and cracking open a good book, right? Here is a list of some popular books among teens and young adults in 2014 and 2015.

All the Light We Cannot See (By Anthony Doerr)

This story is based in France. It features Marie-Laure, a blind girl trying to survive the tragedies of World War 2. She lives in Paris with her father, who is a locksmith. The book also tells the story of a German boy, Werner. He eventually crosses paths with Marie.

Paper Towns (By John Green)

From the very popular author, John Green, this book is about a boy, Quentin,  who uses clues to find a mysterious girl who he had met once before.

Gone Girl (By Gillian Flynn)

This story is based in Southern Missouri. On Nick and Amy’s 5th wedding anniversary, Amy goes missing. Soon after Amy’s disappearance, Nick is accused of being a murderer.

This book was recently made into a major movie, starring Ben Affleck.

Where She Went (If I Stay, #2) (By Gayle Forman)

This sequel to If I Stay picks up several years later. Adam and Mia reunite in New York City after her decision to leave him.

Go Set a Watchman (To Kill A Mockingbird, #2)

In this a sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout has grown up and moved to New York City. She comes home to visit her father, Atticus, and learns troubling secrets about her family and her hometown, May comb.

Another Day (Every Day, #2)

It’s just another day for Rhiannon. Except her boyfriend is different. He pays attention to her; actually wants to be around her. They have a great day together. Then, someone tells her that the person she spent that wonderful day with was not her boyfriend.

Seveneves

After a terrible event, every nation on earth comes together to give everyone on the planet a chance to survive. Their plan involves moving to another planet.

5,000 years later, the population is reduced to only 3 billion, and they want to move back to earth.

The Brothers

This nonfiction book breaks down the entire timeline of the Tsarnaev brothers’ time in America, including how they planned and executed their attack on the Boston Marathon in 2013. Masha Gessen attempts to find out why these two brothers decided to organize a terrorist attack.

Between Shades of Grey

Lina, an ordinary 15 year old girl, is ripped away from her family, her life, and her home all in one night. Her, her mom, and her brother are taken to a work camp in Siberia by Soviet officers. She finds comfort in art. She documents events by illustrating them. By a miracle, Lina ends up surviving.

The Fault in Our Stars

Augustus and Hazel meet at a cancer support group. The two go on a journey together fall in love, while Hazel is battling severe cancer. This story is deeply touching.
